The best part of Todd Pile’s day is helping others achieve their goals. Prior to calling Oregon home in 1998, Todd lived in many different states across the United States. The different communities and people he was able to meet gave him a deeper understanding of people and communication. The importance of communication has become the backbone of his leadership style with both staff and our residents.
Todd graduated from the University of Oregon in 2008 and quickly started his career as a financial planner. He spent seven years following the market crash helping others regain their financial security only to wake up one morning craving to help others in a different way. This desire to help others ultimately led Todd to serve in the senior health care industry. Over the last six years, he has worked as an administrator and executive director at skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living communities throughout Oregon.
Todd currently resides in the Portland area with his beautiful and charismatic wife, Heidi. They love to attend social events and spend time golfing or wine tasting together in the area. They also love to travel. Todd is truly honored to be working here at Courtyard at Mount Tabor and embrace the challenge of serving our residents and staff. His goal is to make Courtyard at Mount Tabor a fun and exciting community that stands alone among its peers.

Assistant Executive Director
Kevin Braman left his career in banking in search of a position that would utilize his skills to benefit others. Following a stint in government work, advocating for children’s needs, he walked in the door of Courtyard at Mount Tabor retirement community. Today, he works with our residents and their families to ensure their move-in process is as seamless and comfortable as possible. Kevin has been with Courtyard since 2013.
Generations Program Director
Ask anyone at Courtyard and you will hear that Geris Appelo is a big part of the reason our Generations community is so well-respected. Her dedication to our memory care residents and their families is felt at every level. Having worked her way to administrator over the years, she couples vast on-the-job experience with the creativity essential to her other passion, photography. Understanding we all have different wants and needs, Geris always finds a unique balance when managing day-to-day operations. Geris started her career with Courtyard in 2006.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Kevin joined the Courtyard team in 2010. His close relationship with his grandparents is one of the main reasons Kevin Churchman was drawn to the senior living industry.
Graduating from the University of Oregon with a degree in telecommunications and film, Kevin’s objective was to be a filmmaker. He deviated from that path after being hired as a flight attendant, which he did for seven years. “That job was extremely fun, but grueling. I had the chance to travel the world, meet many celebrities and make some extremely close friends. It was a great experience and I’m glad I did that right out of college,” Kevin said of his time as a flight attendant. Kevin went on to work in high tech and then a local Portland radio station while continuing to produce videos. He also worked on the television show “Leverage.”
One of Kevin’s passions is music. He plays the piano, guitar and has attended hundreds of concerts. “There’s a song lyric for everything,” said Kevin. He also enjoys spending time with his German Shepherd mix, being active, traveling, and exploring the local Portland vegetarian/vegan restaurant scene. With the opening of Courtyard’s new Pavilion Memory Care community, Kevin is looking forward to this new chapter. “We’ve hired a lot of really amazing new people with incredible skills which will take our program to the next level. It’s very exciting,” Kevin said.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Since 2001, Linda Temple has helped thousands of families find senior housing options that meet their needs. She was drawn to the senior housing industry after helping her own grandparents find options when their situation changed suddenly. After navigating the “senior care maze” herself, Linda decided that she wanted to work with other families in similar situations.
Linda has a background in volunteering and in the hospitality industry. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and two kids.
“Working at Courtyard at Mount Tabor, my goal is to make the process as smooth as possible,” said Linda.
Vibrant Life Director–Plaza
Laurie Mix has been the hub of Plaza’s massive recreation program for half a dozen years. Her educational background, which was dedicated to nursing, prepared her to understand the priorities of today’s seniors. When you witness Laurie interacting with anyone here on campus, it is easy to see the valuable skills she learned in her years spent in social service and nonprofit work. Laurie started her career with Courtyard in 2007.
Vibrant Life Director–Park
Annette Anderson has been a consistent beacon of support for Courtyard’s residents for a decade. Starting as a caregiver in 2007, Annette developed extensive knowledge of the needs of each individual who lives here. She was promoted to Vibrant Life assistant in 2012 and then to Vibrant Life Director in 2020.
Diana Johnson wrote her first fitness program at age 14. Her parents/clients followed the program because, even then, she understood that the best programs are doable, enjoyable and easy to follow. In 2008, a year before receiving the first of her two degrees, Diana developed a medical clinic’s diabetic health program. Couple her vast professional knowledge and many years of fitness training, and Diana is a strong force in each resident’s day. Diana has been with Courtyard since 2013.
Business Office Director
Daisy Siguenza was born in Los Angeles, California, and moved to Oregon in 1993 with her mother and sister. She has been in health care since the age of 18, when she became a medical assistant. Daisy has worked in different settings that include hospitals, urgent care centers and senior living. Daisy was a med aide for five years before coming to Courtyard and worked her way to business office director. “I absolutely love my role and take great pride in it. I am looking forward to the new challenges in my position.”
She lives in Tigard and has six children, two boys and four girls, who keep her very busy. Her family enjoys the beach and river on those hot sunny days or getting ice cream from their favorite spot, 22 Below. They enjoy finding new areas to hike and explore.
Michael Schultz was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Alhambra High School in Martinez, California. He moved to Portland in 1991 and graduated from the Western Culinary Institute in 1991.
Michael has been in the food service industry for more than 45 years, working in hotels, restaurants and college campuses. His passion for food comes from his grandmother, who was an Italian chef and restaurant owner on the California coast, where seafood, great wines and produce are in abundance.
He is married to his wonderful wife, Sandra. Together they have four children, five grandchildren and two dogs. As a sportsman, he loves the great outdoors. Michael enjoys athletics, hunting, fishing or just hanging at the beach. He is also a knight of the Royal Rosarians and serves on the board at the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy in Portland.
Building Services Director
John Powelson and his team bring many years of maintenance expertise to Courtyard at Mount Tabor. John isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and is very much a hands-on director. You can often find him lending a hand in housekeeping or maintenance, or tending to the needs of our community space. If you have a problem, chances are John can fix it!
